LESSON TWO
The Knight
Is it actually possible for a man to be as good as the Christian knight of literature? In this lesson, we are introduced to the figures of Beowulf and Sir Gawain, who exemplify all the virtues of the ancient heroes — and yet have a certain difference. The introduction of Christian chivalry, the great dividing line between antiquity and the modern world, sets the stage for the age of the knight.
