LESSON THREE

Yearning for God: the Great Contribution of the Hebrews

A Christian cannot study history without acknowledging the important role of the Hebrew people. For many of the ancient Jews, there was a sense of yearning for something beyond their grasp. In this lesson, you will take a deeper look at two books from the Old Testament: Ecclesiastes and Job. Both books raise questions about suffering, frailty, and the human condition that don’t have a fully satisfying answer within the framework of antiquity. They point forward to the coming, in the fullness of time, to a God who will walk alongside us.
